The cloud computing is one of the most important trend in the information technology industry. Even the biggest critics seem to agree that it is belong to the best crucial modeling change list for the last decade.
However, not many people know where it comes from and how such innovation’s history evolves. This type of computing has grown through a number of phases. They are the computing utility, Application Service Provider along with the Software as a Service.
From the 60s
The idea of a “computer network between galaxies” was introduced in an article by JCR Licklider, who had the responsibility of facilitating the development of ARPANET in 1969.
His vision had enabled people across the globe to connect altogether, access programs and data at any site from anywhere. Moreover, it is a vision that looks very much like what we are calling the cloud computing because of each worksheet for our environment.
Since the 60s, the cloud computing has grown in several areas, with Web 2.0 as the latest development. However, an increase in the Internet connection bandwidth in the 1990s, the cloud computing showed the public something of a breakthrough achievement.
To the 90s
One of the first milestones for the cloud was the emergence of Salesforce in 1999, which pioneered the concept of enterprise applications delivered through a simple website. The service company paves the way for both professionals and formal software firms to deliver Internet applications.
The next development was Amazon Web Services in 2002. It provided a suite of cloud – based services including storage, computing and even the artificial intelligence through Amazon Mechanical Turk.
In 2002, there were many long conversations among European-American experts forwards the computing solutions. They wanted to push the concept of computing to large financial institutions, even though the companies already had the computing resources needed to handle transactions from many banks. However, it is difficult to change the mandates, traditional concepts and risks to financial institutions.
Each financial institution necessarily needs to know that the company offering the computing understands their business. Their care is not just the portfolios which run the applications and infrastructure. It gets important to them. They need to learn that their system supports anyone who has information exactly what the impact of any potential changes can make to their shareholders.
Motivation for the cloud computing is deeper into the delivery service. The application brings the concept of computing and wraps it in a service provided by the data center.
The most advanced service of the cloud providers is Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service). Amazon offers development solutions with a web for storing data, any amount of data that can be read, written or deleted on a pay-per-use basis.
EMC also plans to introduce a data service to compete with Amazon. Its solution is to create a global network with each data center which is capable of storing large amounts of data. They have an approach that no one can afford to put all data.
